Statement of Collaboration
HL7 Australia and the Collaborative Centre for eHealth (CCeH), University of Ballarat, recognise the importance of compliant implementation of Health Informatics Standards in Australia. Both parties agree that both organisations provide crucial input and facilities in this area and that close collaboration is required to achieve this goal.
Principles of Collaboration
• HL7 Australia is the local Affiliate member of HL7.org and comprises the most prominent group of HL7 experts in Australia
• CCeH operates the Australian Healthcare Messaging Laboratory (AHML), a testing service for HL7 messages and potentially other messages used by healthcare products and implementations to ensure conformance with existing and newly emerging local and international messaging standards.
• The HL7 messaging standards have been endorsed by the National Health Information Group (NHIG) as the standard messaging protocol for Australia.
• HL7 Australia and AHML/CCeH agree to both maintain open lines of communication.
• We agree to collaborate in a spirit of mutual appreciation, respect and openness.
• We have established a strategic relationship for the purpose of promoting the adoption of conformant HL7 messaging in Australia.
• We will collaborate to create and promote (local and international) services and tools that support the implementation of conformant HL7 messaging.
• We will jointly seek support from Australian State, Territory and Federal agencies and industry for further improvement of the AHML testing facilities.
• We will jointly seek to remove any barriers to the implementation of conformant HL7 messaging and encourage State, Territory and Federal health departments to adopt measures that provide administrative support of this goal.
